Are you an unemployed, South African citizen of 35 years or older? Have you completed Grade 10 or higher and do you have a copy of your school results to prove this? Most importantly, are you interested in a career in the health and frail care sector? If your answer is yes to all of these questions, then you should sign up for Bergzicht Training and Development’s advanced Health and Frail Care Programme accredited by the Health and Welfare SETA (HWSETA) of South Africa.
Our 15-week programme is presented on a full-time basis and consists of five weeks of theoretical and practical training offered at our campus and a 10-week work-integrated learning opportunity offered at one of 26 different care institutions across the Western Cape. Our programme will equip you to become a caregiver, nurse’s assistant or frail care assistant and take care of a sick or frail patient, an elderly person, or a sick baby or child. Some of the modules we offer include ethical care at health care centres and in private homes, basic anatomy, how to assist immobile patients, and baby and child care. Many of our graduates end up working at specialist children’s hospitals, old age homes, retirement villages and in private homes.
To register, bring along:
- A copy of your last school report.
- Your green barcoded identity document.
PLEASE NOTE: This specific programme package runs over 21 weeks and consists of our 6-week iPOWER (Self-Empowering) Foundation Programme – a compulsory, entry-level foundation programme that teaches participants basic life skills, personal health, cleaning, laundry and cooking skills – and our 15-week Health and Frail Care Programme.
Classes are presented at our Stellenbosch campus from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00.
